It was disappointing but not surprising. Research shows that most first time candidates do not make it past the first round - or at least candidates like me - some umpteen years out of school, limited knowledge of the language etc. etc.
And so now I've found myself on a different path - which I find a bit funny because last year before my departure to Costa Rica I was researching life in Spain. I am moving to SPAIN! Long story short, one of my friends sisters told me about this teaching program sponsored by the Spanish government. The only real requirement is that you must speak English and have a college degree. I excelled at both of those requirements. The next step was to apply and the catch is that the earlier you submit your application- you are most likely to get your first choice destination. However, I may have slightly procrastinated due to my desire to participate in Fulbright. But everything has worked out. I am Spain bound in about a month.
I will document that experience here. I've found that I do not like actually writing about the sights and posting pictures but instead detailing the actual events that lead to a particular moment. Entonnces (so) that is what I will be doing. Spanglish will also become part of my regular vocabulary until this blog is primarily written in Spanish - and that will be my goal for the remainder of this year.
